Called "one of America’s best walking towns" by Walking magazine, Portland, Oregon, is also known as "cool, quirky, and surprisingly affordable" (Budget Travel). Portland is a much-loved city, celebrated for its locally sourced food and wine scene (frequently referred to as "foodie heaven"!), its vibrant downtown, its walkable neighborhoods, and its laid-back vibe.

Portland will also soon be known as the site of CMG's 2010 Fall Conference, scheduled to be held November 5-9 at the Hilton Portland and Executive Tower Hotel, 921 SW 6th Avenue, Portland. A special rate of $109 per room, per night, single or double occupancy has been negotiated for attendees. The block of rooms will be open June 10th, so be sure to make your reservation TODAY.

2010 Fall Conference PortlandTo book your hotel reservation by phone, please call 1-800-HILTONS, or contact the Hotel directly at 503.226.1611. To book your reservation online, visit www.hilton.com and make your reservation by entering the group code of COL.

There’s no need for a rental car, as you can get just about anywhere on the city’s easy-to-use public transit system. The fare from the airport to downtown on the city’s light-rail system, known as MAX, is just $2.30 each way. Travel throughout the downtown area is free. The Portland Streetcar also links Portland’s many neighborhoods and can be ridden all day for just $2.00.

Portland is famous for foodcarts, serving everything from traditional Thai Street Food to vegetarian barbeque (yes, you read that correctly!). Visit www.foodcartsportland.com to learn more. Equally important are local made drinks, both microbrews and wines. For those who prefer stronger libations, you can also enjoy a blue plum brandy and other spirits made from Oregon fruit. And coffee? Portland is a strong rival to its northern neighbor, Seattle.

For more information about Portland and its environs, please visit the city’s tourism site: www.TravelPortland.com. Visit the CMG website for frequent updates as the program planning team gets busy.
