“Yellow has always been my favorite color; however, I never realized how much it influenced my work.” — Cindy Green, CMG Board Member
Cindy Green, CMG, a 13-year member of Color Marketing Group, the premier international association for color design professionals, earned a BFA in Design from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro. Capel has been a member for many years, recently transitioning to a corporate membership, allowing two members to attend CMG events.
Capel is a family-owned company based in Troy, North Carolina, beginning its 101styear in business…America’s Rug Company. Throughout the years, Capel has become known for our handcrafted braided rugs. We spin and dye the yarns used in our rugs, whether they are braided or woven. These rugs are truly one of a kind, created by artisans. Capel compliments its domestic line with rugs from around the globe – India, Turkey, Europe and China. In addition to our proprietary products, we also design and collaborate to create products with our licensing partners.
“In this new role, I am involved with creating new colors and yarn systems for our domestic braided and flatwoven rugs. I also provide design input throughout Capel’s proprietary products, licensed products, and import products. Rugs are not disposable accessories, they are meant to complement homes for years to come. Because of this, it is important for us to create relevant, fashion-forward rugs. Our CMG membership assists us in staying ahead of the curve, interpreting these trends for our customers, in a way that is timeless.” – Cindy Green

My favorite color story would be from college. Yellow has always been my favorite color; however, I never realized how much it influenced my work. My painting professor noticed, pointing out how all the colors I used had a little yellow mixed in. For the next several weeks he took away my yellow paint, it was horrible. I felt lost, like Linus without his trusty blanket. Eventually, I was allowed to use yellow again, but this time I was very cognizant of how often I used it.
