The 1960’s:

1963: CMG COLORFAIR, the first exhibit of its kind, is an annual gallery of CMG members’ product samples, displaying colors available in the market by 29 color groupings. Organizing by color rather than industry, reveals interplay, if any, between industries and various fields of business activity, such as fashion versus home furnishings.

The COLORFAIR used a newly developed universal color language which, for the first time, made possible rapid and easy color communication within and between industries, scientists, technicians, color designers, stylists, and merchandisers. One COLORFAIR alone featured over 1,600 color samples.

Today, CMG members continue to share color knowledge with colleagues at CMG’s ChromaZone® Color Forecasting Workshops, ColorChats™, ColorSpeak™ webinars, and the annual International Summit. CMG’s Monthly Color Alert® also showcases members’ products in validation of our annual World Color Forecast™.

CMG Swatchbook is a bi-monthly feature focused on key moments in CMG’s history. We look forward to sharing these events across 2022. Our anniversary celebration will culminate at our annual International Summit held this coming November. There will be more details to come, and we look forward to seeing you there!
