2020 Virtual International Summit

EMBRACE THE UNCOMFORTABLE

November 18 – 19, 2020

EMBRACE.  COLLABORATE.  EMERGE

We’re in a new world. Our comfort zones have become the roads less traveled. Industries of every kind are adapting to new ways of working that require creativity, flexibility, and vision. At Color Marketing Group® (CMG),  we are no strangers to thinking differently. We are a group of risk-takers, color seekers, and groundbreakers. We are full of innovative ideas and fresh perspectives; and the conversation is just beginning.

Our International Summit is virtual for 2020, and it is so much more than a live stream. Share in the future of color by participating in this collaborative and interactive experience. By creating a digital event, we are welcoming even more of our members from far and wide to enter the conversation for a truly global experience. Join us in embracing the uncomfortable, collaborating in color, and emerging anew.

EMBRACE THE UNCOMFORTABLE

COLLABORATE IN COLOR

EMERGE ANEW

About

Everyone at CMG is disappointed this year that we cannot convene in person. With our history of almost 6 decades of meeting in person at our annual International Summit, we realize that a Virtual International Summit will not be the same. However, our Summit Planning Committee has strived to provide an event that offers as much color forecast information as our in-person events. Our Virtual Summit will offer topic-focused virtual networking events with luminaries in the color design field. We’ll reveal the latest color trends gathered during our global in-person and virtual color forecasting events. We’ll share insights, exchange ideas, and, above all, chat about color!

Everyone who attends should be ready to collaborate, communicate, and create! While we’ll miss the tradition of our Summit Workshop experience, we’ll be offering these to CMG members in January (*).  As a CMG member, your Virtual Summit registration fee will include participation in one of the Virtual Color Applications Workshops (restrictions apply – see conditions for more information).  Now would be a great time to join CMG as we get ready to reveal our 2022 World Color Forecast.

A Virtual Summit Experience

The Summit is a two-day virtual experience offering a mix of interactive networking sessions with the global color design community; multi-media presentations, and panel discussions on all things COLOR!

While our theme is EMBRACE THE UNCOMFORTABLE, you don’t need to be!  Stay safe.  Stay comfortable.  Tune in from the comfort of your home, or if you’re back to work, take a colorful break to enhance your color knowledge.  Above all, be prepared to embrace the uncomfortable, collaborate in color … and emerge anew!

Schedule at a Glance

DAY ONE features the revelation of our 2022+ World Color Forecast™, comprising the results of our global color forecasting in-person and virtual events held in 2020.  The World Color Forecast reveals the top 64 color directions that CMG’s global color design community believes will be trending in 2022 and beyond.  The Summit will showcase presentations from our four Forecast regions including North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America, each of whom will present the top 3 Color Trend Stories with supporting color directions.  Our Keynote Speaker for the day will be Stacy Garcia, an established leader in the world of design.

DAY TWO highlights CMG’s President, Peggy Van Allen, presenting the overview of our Color Forecast, combining the results from all four Regional Forecasts.  We then explore Future Thinking in 2030.  CMG members will share the results of our virtual Future Thinking Workshops held this October, examining where the world is heading in 2030.  CMG members will also show how they have EMBRACED THE UNCOMFORTABLE in both color and design.  Addressing the Summit theme in 1-minute video segments, global color design experts will share their passion for color, and offer their insight into the challenges faced in their business, how they have overcome them, and what lies ahead. Finally, join our Panel Discussion as we dig deeper into the “uncomfortable” and what it has meant for global color trends and influences.

Each day will be “topped and tailed” with our CMG ColorChat™ Committee, offering you the chance to join the conversation and network with our color tribe across a multitude of topics including CMF trends, region-specific color trend information, and more!

EMBRACE.  COLLABORATE.  EMERGE.

2022+ World Color Forecast™

Every year CMG members and our global color community attend numerous ChromaZone® Color Forecasting Workshops and CMG regional Conferences, discussing consumer behavior and societal trends, and the impact these will have on color and design.

Our Workshop formula is highly collaborative. Attendees, who are color experts in their field, present their color trend stories as they relate to their industry/product. During the process, we analyze thousands of colors and identify big picture trends that will influence color directions in the coming years.  The final outcome from each event is 16  color directions that participants believe will be trending two years out.  At the end of our forecasting season, our Regional Steering Committees curate all the workshop results, distilling them to a global selection of 64 color directions comprising 16 from each of our regions of North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. The combined outcome – our World Color Forecast – is revealed annually at the International Summit.

Who Should Attend our Virtual Summit experience?

Global manufacturers, brands, and marketers understand the importance of color marketing to their bottom line. Your company will benefit from creating research fueled and validated products in colors that sell. As a project manager, product developer, designer, manufacturer, CMF designer, color specifier, or anyone who works with color for products or services, you won’t want to miss our Summit experience.

You do NOT need to be a member of CMG to participate in this Summit, but the Color Applications Workshops being held in January are exclusive to CMG members.

The Benefits of Attending

At our Virtual  Summit, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to share and collaborate with other color design professionals across all industries—people who, like you, are constantly searching for inspiration, and for what’s next in color.

  • We’ll reveal our collection of regional forecasts from Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, and Latin America, and give you the first look at the 2022+ World Color Forecast™.

Having experience over many decades, Jane considers longevity to be an asset. Once approaching a potential client for the third time, was told that all those approaches go into a filing cabinet. “Well, I don’t belong in a filing cabinet” was Jane’s response, the client replied, “Yes, I can see that now” and the business partnership flourished. Working across many times zones, especially in the current Covid-19 reality, technology is enabling more contact with clients and colleagues, lack of physical long-distance travel is not a barrier, rather a bonus not to be endured. As our Asia Pacific Region 2019 forecast for 2021 so aptly wrote, Phoenix Rising from the Ashes is as timely a forecast as could be envisaged.  Keep well and Carry on.

These are CMG Members-only Workshops.

Normally part of our in-person International Summit, our Color Applications Workshops are virtual this year.   Members who register for the Summit will be given the opportunity to register for a Workshop on a first-come basis.

If you’ve been to a Summit before, you know that our Workshops encapsulate the core of what the International Summit is about. Global inter-industry teams will share how colors from CMG’s newly revealed 2022+ World Color Forecast™ are being applied in current design projects. It’s a tidal wave of exposure, learning, and collaboration that unites us as color professionals and makes each of us stronger.

Our Workshops are grouped into four major overarching workshop categories: Residential (Interior and Exterior), Contract (Interior and Exterior), Lifestyle & Consumer, and Color, Material & Finish (CMF).  Each Workshop will assess the 64 colors within the Forecast™ and collaborate to select the top 12 colors that will emerge in this sector.   The results from each Workshop will be formatted into a PowerPoint Report and shared with CMG members.
