2010’s:
2011: For decades, Color Marketing Group forecast color at two annual Conferences, with Consumer Colors forecast at a spring event, and Contract Colors in the fall. However, this process was physically taxing for the participants, who had to pull all-nighters in order to complete the steering by the end of the weekend. Additionally, there was a recognition that the Consumer and Contract Color Forecasts had little distinction. And, with the Great Recession, there was an overall decline in both membership and event attendance.
In light of these factors, CMG leadership chose to reorganize into a single International Summit in the fall, and shift the color forecasting process to more frequent, regional forecasting events. Thus, the ChromaZone® was born. Held in Chicago, New York City, Ohio, and Southern California in its first year, the ChromaZones were well received and drove greater participation from members as well as non-members.
CMG’s ChromaZone forecasting process continues today, with the addition of international and virtual events. Our leadership is always looking for ways to improve our color forecasting process, as well as our member experience. Stay tuned for exciting changes as we move into our next forecasting cycle!
