DECEMBER COLOR ALERT®

Newness • Light • Nature • Soft

Refresh

Arise in early light, with the softest hue.

Refresh is here. It is a hue alive with newness and possibility. Containing very little black and little chroma, this pale green, influenced by yellow, hints at nature’s varying green colours as they first emerge. Mostly untouched by the effects of the sun, the colour is soft, almost innocent, as it emerges into the landscape.

It is refreshing and connects to the natural world with a colourful aura that heralds health and suggests harmony. It embraces humanity’s association with nature, and love of same. This emerging hue, determined in Color Marketing Group Latin America meetings for 2024+ moves from its natural inspirations to the design landscape. From home décor and accessories, to textiles, to paint emulsions and wallcoverings, it is a hue of modern clarity and the intimation of something new.

Refresh creates a quiet and unassuming path forward that connects individuals to society and nature for the new year, and beyond. It is a hue with a gentle reminder of nature’s best aspects, that things constantly emerge anew, that creativity is present in myriad ways, and that design can benefit all.

The broad appeal of Refresh makes it an ideal hue for residential and commercial spaces. By bringing one of nature’s hues indoors, spaces like great rooms and lobbies can share the same type of vibe, allowing inhabitants to move easily between personal and professional areas with the same sense of freshness and calm. It can serve as a colour with which to drift off to sleep, or cast a relaxing mood for a wellness retreat.

Realized in soft-touch materials, mossy textured fabrics, or as a matte paint emulsion, Refresh can have as many moods as it has inspirations. The colour can mimic the leaf of a dusty miller plant, the smooth finish of sea glass, or even the frothiness of a smoothie, with each suggesting something new and fresh. Refresh will create little oases in upholstery pieces, add quiet green touches to tableware and linens, and quietly energize a focus wall with its tranquil colour.

As one year closes, and the next begins, it is the perfect time for a colour Refresh.

About CMG’s Color Alert®

Color Alert is an exciting monthly feature from Color Marketing Group® (CMG), illuminating one color each month from our World Color Forecast™ and validating our color predictions in the market. As a color litmus test, and drawing from North American, European, Latin American, and the Asia Pacific directional Forecasts, Color Alert brings CMG’s directional color stories to life, whether seen on store shelves, cruising along highways, or strutting fashion runways.
Color Marketing Group holds Color Forecasting Workshops – ChromaZones – and international Color Conferences to determine color direction approximately two years in advance (depending on industry). For instance, colors for 2024 were forecast back in 2022.  As the year unfolds we reveal one color per month. The results from these events are consolidated to form CMG’s World Color Forecast which is revealed annually at CMG’s International Summit.
Color Marketing Group is ready to share the excitement of color on an international scale and Color Alert lets the world know that CMG members are spot on with color direction. The eyes of its members are keen on the current emergence of color while staying focused on future hues. Knowledge, discovery, direction, and affirmation make Color Marketing Group the premier international association for color design professionals, and Color Alert allows us to share it with the world.
