When it comes to the selection of color many of us still trust in a physical approach. The evaluation for the right tone is often based on a color card/color system including a manual application process to create a physical representation of our individual styling idea. The technology of digital rendering which is already heavily used in various industries gives us unique options to play and evaluate shades before spraying a shape. This sustainable approach saves resources and speeds up the design process.

The presentation about our new Merck/EMD “digital rendering” tool explains the challenges when we display color and effects virtually while we are embracing a new digital experience. The application is made to perform for everybody. Special software skills are not needed.

In his global role as senior design manager at Merck, Dominik Eisend sees himself in a sweet spot where CMF Design happens and new aesthetics are being discovered. He approaches CMF design from a holistic perspective and sees it as one of the most exciting fields in “future mobility” and product design. Since the start of his career, he was able to contribute his creativity and ideas to automotive processes and saw many concepts as productions of cars rolling off the lines. Before joining Merck he held various roles working for companies such as Borgward, Ford, Mercedes Benz, and AMG.
