Experience the Mystical Mirage of the Sonoran Desert at CMG’s 2019 International Summit.
Optical Illusion
Our world is evolving. Nothing is certain. Everything around us is constantly changing. The perspectives through which we see the world are continually multiplying. What we believe to be true, may not be. False impressions, deceptions, and illusions surround us. This trick of the eye is an optical illusion, a mirage. This refracted light effect can be seen in the Sonoran Desert around Tucson Arizona, the location for our International Summit. The unique beauty of the desert also has a mystical side which makes for a spirited adventure.
“The desert has mesmerizing aesthetics, which are important aspects to inspire CMG’s color professionals.” says Bridget Frizzie of Kehoe Designs and CMG’s Chair of the 2019 Summit Planning Committee. “It experiences intense temperature changes and wild weather seasons, with crazy hot days that make for a fascinating study in radiant colors. As you look into the distance you think you see a pool of water, but what you really see is the bending or reflection of light by a layer of heated air. This illusion is the perfect metaphor for the times in which we live.”
Desert Colors
CMG member Brian Walters, Creative Director at Britton Marketing & Design Group in Fort Wayne, Indiana, helped design the visual style for the Summit theme. He told us:
“The color palette chosen for the Radiant Mirage theme perfectly matches the deep, autumnal colors that the CMG tribe will experience at the International Summit this November in Tucson Arizona. The vibrant, desert-inspired motifs, and illusory nature of modern art, provided inspiration. I drew inspiration from contemporary painters such as Gerhard Richter and used a wide spectrum of vivid colors.”
A Desert Oasis
