2000’s:

2001: The 2000’s were a difficult time for CMG, and the world. The 9/11 attacks had an immediate negative effect on the US economy resulting in significant unemployment. The association community at large was adversely impacted by the economic challenges, and CMG experienced a serious decline in membership. In 2008, CMG’s membership was further affected by the stock market and housing crash which resulted in an epic financial and economic collapse that cost many jobs, life savings, and homes. Despite shrinking membership, CMG did grow its global reach during this decade. Having previously expanded CMG’s international presence in Europe, CMG established the first European Committee in Barcelona. Later that decade, in 2007, CMG held the first Asia Pacific Meeting in Singapore, and in 2008 CMG held its first Latin American Meeting in Buenos Aires.
