Color Marketing Group’s Color, Material & Finish Workshop (CMF), held exclusively at the International Summit, explored the future of CMF trends, particularly within consumer goods, appliances, transportation, and furniture. Innovative suppliers, product developers, and CMF designers discussed the multi-dimensions of CMF trends that will influence our CMG 2020+ World Color Forecast.
CMF Trend Highlights
Color Marketing Group’s member partners provided 2020 CMF design chip samples, exclusively for 2018 Summit attendees. By doing so our three CMF trends came to life in tangible and ready to apply color stories. Here are the highlights:
Tech-Tangle
The boundary between the physical and digital realm continues to dissolve. Visual tactility created through depth, texture, and lighting.
U do U
We move toward the purity of childlike play without conscious intention. A mixing of unexpected graphics and patterns, along with the use of clashing colors.
After-Effect
Utility and beauty emerge after the expected use. Taking natural to the next level, we look beyond the surface to the deeper truth with materials that would usually be discarded. Heavily textured products as well as translucent and transparent build the strata to create perceived depth.
